World Time Attack Challange 2011
POSTED BY Chasers, 14th August 2011, 9:54 am

I didn’t think that the WTAC would get any better than it was in 2010. I was wrong. Competition was alot stiffer this year and you can expect it to get even more serious next year. The average time of every class went down by a couple of seconds, it may not seem like much but in the world where you’re racing against an invisible rival – the clock, every milli-second counts.

The walk through the carpark was a bigger eye opener for me than the show & shine section.
An R34GTR NUR

When I think of time attack the HKS CT230R has to be the first car to come into my mind. Retired at its peak.

Representing Chasers in clubsprint is none other than our tuner – Paul Flourentzou, in his R32 GTR. A respectable 1:48.0970

#teamCHASERS – thanks Fatin for all the picture!

The Chasers E6 proudly wearing it’s “battle paint”. Managed a 1:42.6950 with a broken gearbox, surprised the standard 5-speed actually lasted that long.

Don’t think this car needs introduction does it? 1:37.9840, a new PB

For the competitors, practice started early on Thursday

Matt black always works

The euro camp. Audi TT-RS

Really wanted to see more of this APR tuned Golf-R

Friday Showtime

Hard to find a better base car for clubsprint

1000hp & a full carbon shell. I’m looking forward to see the progress of this car

New aero package

Revzone’s ex-tsukuba time attack R33 GTR

Team Chasers #2

A.Hamdan – Game on expression

Very patriotic with that Malaysia flag!

Got a soft spot for clean GTRs

Vsport’s e10

Topstage e6

Scorch Racing full carbon S15 was a big fan favourite

At this level of competition, what sets aside the boys from the men is having proper functional aero, just look at Mark Berry’s R34 – it looks completely different from last year.
And of course, the boys at Chasers did not leave this to chance

You must be thinking – why did I start off a one make evo competition with a GTR?

Obviously they were there to get beaten by evos… I joke, I’m biased.

Paul’s very torquey APR wide bodied 8

Dusty workshirts = hard work

Unfortunately Glenn’s white evo 6 couldn’t make it on time but Alif was there in full force! Congratulations on getting 2nd outright for Eastern Creek!

World Time Attack Challenge 2011
POSTED BY Chasers, 1st June 2011, 7:43 am
Both of the cars that will be representing Chasers in the upcoming World Time Attack have a history behind them, both started their lives differently but currently are en route to realizing the same goal. All of our cars are much loved and driven by their self respective owners. No hired guns here.

The white evo 6 is started off initially as a road registered 6 and is a true testament to it’s model’s name, I’ve never seen it in the same state for a prolong period of time. It belongs to Glenn Trollope – driver of this amazing car & director of Chasers Motorworks. What started off as a engineer’s toy that has been with the workshop since the beginning is now a serious time attack machine. But there’s are no secrets to the build, it still has the standard 5 speed gearbox, Tein Monoflex coilovers, AP racing 6 piston brakes, is fully lightened & has a full Varis wide body kit. Equipped with an inhouse built forged 2L engine and a 3037S turbo, it managed a 1:31 at Winton Raceway with a set of 5 year old RE55S.

The blue evo 6 started it’s hard life on Tsukuba circuit as a time attack car by Bozz speed / Garage HRS. When it arrived on our shores, it was put to the test on Winton and it was clear that alot of work had to be done to achieve the results Chasers & Alif wanted. The engine was pulled apart and balanced; a dry sump system installed; wiring redone; tiny ARC intercooler replaced with a appropriate sized HKS counterpart; the HKS Fcon Vpro was ditched for a optioned packed Motec M800, tuned by Paul & a much more comprehensive roll cage installed. The Japanese usually prefer less extensive cages to save weight.

Chaser’s steampipe manifold (available commercially), GT35 turbo & Albin’s dog box (after breaking the 5 speed box from flat shifting)
On it’s first shakedown at Evonats 2011 at Eastern Creek after it’s extensive makeover, Alif came in 2nd in the unrestricted class with only makeshift alignments done by Benny using strings!

“Yes, it is actually this small”

For WTAC 2011, there will be some major changes especially with aero. Keep a lookout!
This actually went on the dyno?

Have you ever seen a gyro-copter getting tuned?

I would love to see a parking inspector trying to give a ticket

Remember the red formula 3 car from the home page?
Here’s a orange one to add to the mix

The boss has ordered my lazy ass to update this section of the website.
For some of the new customers who haven’t seen what the workshop looked like pre-2011. Here’s a picture.

Maybe this ain’t that good a picture

It looked more like this. Yes I know that’s a hell lot of evos.
While I was enjoying my holiday overseas, the boys were slaving over christmas to turn the shop into how it looks like now

So clean now you can eat off the floor. 10 second rule!

Our newest addition into the time attack team
A few loose ends to tie up on this ex tsukuba time attack evo 6 built by bozzspeed/unlimited works, but nothing the boys can’t handle

“Upon engine start, please have idle within 2-3 minutes.( Racing Purpose Only )” – specific instructions from the original owners

Brembo 4 piston calipers up front, bigger than my 6 piston AP Racing calipers with a pad thickness good enough for an enduro race.

First step – dry sump with a 15 litre pump!

Another car which deserves mentioning is the Benny’s 180SX with a T88
